BOXMET 1.5 g Injection is a combination medicine used to treat infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, bone and joints, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, etc. caused by susceptible bacteria. This medicine should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

What is it prescribed for?

  • Urinary tract infections

    This medicine is used in the treatment of upper and lower urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.

  • Respiratory Tract Infection

    This medicine is used in the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella species, Proteus mirabilis, Enterobacter species, etc.

  • Intra-abdominal Infections

    This medicine is used in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections such as peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, etc. caused by susceptible bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.

  • Bacterial Septicemia

    This medicine is used in the treatment of bacterial septicemia which is an infection of the blood that may be caused by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, etc.

  • Skin and Soft tissue infections

    This medicine is used in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections caused by bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.

  • Gynecologic infections

    This medicine is used in the treatment of gynecologic infections such as endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, gonorrhea, etc. caused by susceptible bacteria such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus agalactiae, Escherichia coli, etc.

    Use of this medicine within 48-72 hours of alcohol consumption may cause a disulfiram like-reaction. This reaction is characterized by symptoms such as severe vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, palpitations, difficulty in breathing, sweating, increased heart rate, etc. Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with this medicine and for several days after the therapy has been stopped. Any unusual symptoms should be reported to the doctor on priority. It is advised that you inform your doctor if you have consumed alcohol before beginning therapy with this medicine.
